Pura Vida in Costa Rica
This expedition is new and absolutely unique. The tour has been carefully planned based on years of experience for adventurous divers and nature lovers. We want to bring you to the right place at the right time!

Discover the incredible diversity of life around Isla del Cano and on the open Pacific. Visit the most biodiverse area on earth, Corcovado National Park. Experience exciting adventures at sea and in the jungle.

We start at the beautiful Paradise Lodge (Austrian owned), from where various excursions (diving, waterfalls, beaches, boat tours, quad biking, ziplining) will be carried out during the first 6 days. Then we head south for another 5 days, to Drake Bay, from where we conduct our exclusive ocean safaris, visit Corcovado National Park, and dive for a day at Isla del Cano.

Finally, we spend another 3 days at the Paradise Lodge, go rafting, and spend a day on an endlessly long, mostly deserted dream beach.

This carefully curated trip to Costa Rica combines the best natural wonders of Costa Rica with exciting activities, all in a small, fine group of a maximum of 10 people.

Owner of Paradise Lodge in Costa Rica.

Experience the paradise of Costa Rica with a local expert!

Born and raised in Vienna, I've always had a passion for travel. In 2017, I discovered Costa Rica and fell in love with its beauty. Since then, I return every year to explore its hidden gems.

I've been sharing my passion for Costa Rica with small groups since 2022. As an avid diver and photographer, I'm also excited to showcase the underwater world. Check out some of my photos at www.scupix.com.

I'm fluent in Spanish, English, and German, and I can't wait to show you Costa Rica from a new perspective – full of adventure, nature, and unforgettable experiences.

Unsere Expedition Costa Rica Reise im Detail

Day 1, Arrival, Transfer:

Your long-haul flight from Europe will arrive in the afternoon at San Jose International Airport. Our driver will be waiting for you right at the exit and will escort you to the vehicle that will take you to your accommodation for the next few days, the Paradise Lodge Costa Rica, in approximately 3 hours.

Upon arrival, you'll find water, soft drinks, cold beer, and small snacks waiting for you in the refrigerator. You'll settle into your room in the spacious pool villa and likely fall quickly into the comfortable bed.

The Paradise Lodge pool villa features 6 rooms (2 Superior, 3 Standard double rooms, 1 single room), each with a private bathroom/WC. There's a spacious, central living, cooking, and dining area, as well as a covered terrace by the pool, and a large wooden deck with sun loungers. Breakfast is prepared and served by a staff member in the kitchen. There are supermarkets and restaurants nearby, and dinner can be ordered and delivered there as well. We also have a gas grill available, and we'd be happy to organize a barbecue night together!

The Paradise Lodge also has two additional bungalows that can be reserved upon request.

Day 2, Relaxing at Playa Linda, Dominical:

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, followed by a 25-minute transfer to Playa Linda. Chill, swim, and surf on the kilometer-long palm-fringed beach. In the afternoon, visit Dominical, stroll along the beach promenade, explore boutiques, supermarkets, cafes, and bars... then return to the lodge.

Now would be the perfect time for a relaxing massage. With prior reservation and for an additional fee, the therapists will come to our terrace.

The evening is free for you to enjoy as you please.

Day 3, Diving Isla del Cano:

After a light breakfast, we'll have an early start today, departing around 6:30 AM for Uvita, with a transfer time of about 40 minutes. We'll be expected at the dive center, where coffee, fruit, and cake will be waiting. We'll take care of formalities, rent equipment if necessary, and have a briefing.

Then, it's a short walk to Marino Ballena National Park, where our boat departs. We'll sail for about an hour to "Isla de Cano," often accompanied by dolphins, and with luck, we might even see humpback whales.

We'll do 2 dives, where we're likely to see whitetip reef sharks, turtles, rays, and various schools of fish. From January to April, it's "manta season" – at the dive site "Bajo del Diablo," an encounter with these majestic giants (wingspan up to 6m!) is very likely!

Between the dives, there's an opportunity to explore the island. A short hiking trail leads to a beautiful viewpoint, or you can take a siesta on the lovely beach in the shade of a palm tree. Snacks and drinks are available on the boat. We'll return to the dive center around 3 PM. The afternoon/evening is free, with a return transfer either directly after diving or after dinner.

Day 4, Sailing with Brisa Elegante:

Today we drive to Quepos to the Marina Pez Vela, transfer time about 1 hour.

Here we take a walk, there's an Italian ice cream parlor, shops, and restaurants.

At 2 pm, we board the elegant, 33-meter-long wooden sailing ship "Brisa Elegante". We'll take a sailing trip into the waters off Manuel Antonio National Park, anchoring there to swim, snorkel, or take a kayak tour. The crew will serve an excellent dinner, then we'll slowly head back, and after the usually spectacular sunset, we'll reach our berth again.

With luck, we'll see dolphins or even humpback whales during the tour.

In the marina, we can then round off the beautiful day with a cocktail before checking into our hotel nearby.

Day 5, Quad Tour, Zip-lining:

After breakfast on board, we head to the Adventure Park "Vista los Suenos," where we have reserved the combo tour "Quad and Zip-lining." First, we'll be taken by tractor to the mountaintop, from where we'll zip down through the rainforest on a total of 10 cables.

Then, it's about 2 hours on a quad bike through the jungle on muddy paths, crossing rivers and enjoying spectacular viewpoints. Along the way, there will be fruits and water. Please bring closed shoes, a towel, sunscreen, insect repellent, swimwear, and a change of clothes. Showers are available! After this adventure, we drive back to the Paradise Lodge.

Day 6, Waterfalls:

Today we'll take a tour to the famous Nauyaca Waterfalls, located not far from our lodge. The transfer directly to the waterfalls by truck is included, for an additional fee you can also ride there on horseback.

At the waterfalls, you can swim, climb, and jump from the cliffs - or simply enjoy the unique, spectacular view.

Day 7, Ocean Safari, Drake Bay:

Today we'll start very early, heading to Sierpe (transfer time about 90 minutes). At the quaint dock, there's still time for a quick breakfast, then we'll take a boat through the mangrove system of the Rio Sierpe, further through the river mouth, and then out onto the open Pacific. This tour has an expedition character, anything is possible. We'll search for megapods of dolphins, schools of tuna, marlins and sailfish, silky sharks, and various species of whales. Depending on the weather and sea conditions, as well as the behavior of the respective animals - and of course in compliance with current laws - the animals will either be observed from the boat, or we'll go into the water with them, where you can experience them up close while freediving.

Depending on the group size, we'll do this tour with a maximum of 2 boats. You won't see any other boats during the entire tour, there are no other operators with a comparable offer in Costa Rica!

Our Ocean Safari is led and accompanied by an experienced local team, and of course, our group will be exclusively looked after, meaning we'll have plenty of space on the boat. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that there are NO toilets and NO cabins on the boat. There are enough seats, a continuous sun canopy, and of course, plenty of snacks and drinks on board. After this strenuous and exciting day at sea, we will take you to your hotel in Drake Bay.

Day 8, Ocean Safari, Night Hike:

The hotel will provide breakfast, and then we'll head back out to sea to try our luck once more.

After the Ocean Safari, you can relax a bit at the hotel and have dinner. Then we have another highlight planned: We'll venture into the jungle in the dark with biologist Tracie and her husband. They'll show you the incredible diversity of Costa Rica's nocturnal creatures. From scorpions to crocodiles, from red-eyed tree frogs to ocelots, anything is possible here. The tour lasts about 2 hours, after which you'll be brought back to the hotel.

Day 9, Ocean Safari:

All good things come in threes! So today we spend the day once again at sea, in search of spectacular encounters. In the afternoon, we return to Drake Bay, with time to relax - perhaps at one of the beautiful beaches or with a massage? A walk through the town of Drake Bay is also worthwhile, there are some nice restaurants and bars.

Day 10, Corcovado National Park:

Today we venture into the most biodiverse area on our planet - Corcovado National Park. Right after breakfast, you'll be taken by boat to the beach at Sirena Station (travel time approx. 90 minutes). From here, you'll go in small groups with a guide through the jungle, on the lookout for tapirs, monkeys, anteaters, sloths, and more. At lunchtime, you can recharge with drinks and a snack at the Sirena Station, where there are also restrooms. In the afternoon, you'll take another hike before returning to Drake Bay by boat.

Day 11, Isla de Cano:

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel. We'll bring all our luggage onto the boat and travel for about 40 minutes to Isla de Cano, where we'll do 2 dives. In between, there will be drinks and snacks, and again the opportunity to go to the island. After the second dive, we'll head back to Sierpe, and from there directly to the Paradise Lodge.

Day 12, Relaxing at the Beach

Today we can visit the Farmers Market in Dominical, then we'll head to one of the beautiful beaches in our area. We'll spend the day looking for sloths, surfing, swimming, or just lazing around. We'd also be happy to book surf lessons for you, whether you're a beginner or advanced. After all, our beaches are world-renowned among surfers.

Day 13, Rafting:

Today, in the truest sense of the word, no eye will remain dry!

We drive about 1 hour to the starting point of our next adventure: About 11 km before the mouth of the Rio Savegre, we start with our raft, heading downstream over rapids through the jungle. We take a break at an incredibly beautiful waterfall, where we'll also have a snack.

The entire tour is accompanied by a photographer in a kayak; the spectacular pictures are included in the price and will surely be a beautiful reminder of this exciting tour.

We can then experience the last sunset of the trip on the beach, after which the shuttle will take us back to the Paradise Lodge.

Day 14, Return trip:

After breakfast at the Paradise Lodge, you'll have plenty of time to pack your bags. Our shared transfer to San José airport starts around noon, with a travel time of about 3.5 hours.

During the drive, we'll make a stop at the Tarcoles Bridge, where you can almost always observe countless crocodiles. There are also some local eateries there where you can get snacks and drinks.

**************************************** IMPORTANT NOTE ********************************

The itinerary has been carefully planned based on years of experience. However, due to weather and environmental conditions, changes in animal behavior patterns, or changes in local circumstances, it may be necessary to alter the itinerary at short notice. It is also possible that we will not see any turtles, whales, or sharks. None of these constitute a reason for cancellation or reduction in price. We, of course, guarantee our utmost effort to ensure a perfect and safe holiday for our guests.
